Sharon Music Academy Stands with Ukraine
The faculty concert from last month has finally been posted! I highly recommend watching the whole thing, but I’ll also include time links to my performances.
*Unfortunately the video starts to lag halfway through, but you can still listen!
Maithreem Bhajatha, H. H. Chandrasekhara Saraswati
Ragamalika
If you missed my first Music Monday, I talked about my inspiration for this performance, M.S. Subbulakshmi.
Sonatensatz, Wo0 2, from “F-A-E” Sonata for Violin and Piano, Johannes Brahms
Kavita Shankar, violin
Young Woon Cho, piano
This piece is actually the last movement from the F-A-E Sonata for violin and piano, which was a collaborative work written by Robert Schumann, Albert Dietrich (one of Schumann’s students), and Johannes Brahms.
Primavera porteña, from the Four Seasons of Buenos Aires, Astor Piazzolla
Kavita Shankar, violin
Haeju Song, cello
Young Woon Cho, piano
Primavera Porteña (Buenos Aires Spring) is a movement from a set of four tango compositions known as the Estaciones Porteñas or The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires—inspired by Vivaldi’s Four Seasons.
I also recommend watching my fellow violin teacher Liubomyr Senyshyn’s portion of the program. He talked about the impact the war has had on him and his family in Ukraine, and he performed two stunning Ukrainian compositions for violin and piano.
